Quartzite is a natural stone resembling marble and slightly harder than granite. It is a great option for countertops but is also used for wall coverings, floorings, showers, fireplace surrounds, and in outdoor applications. Because it is resistant to scratching and high heat, you can cut on the surface of the stone and place hot pots directly on your quartzite countertop. The shine of a polished finish is buffed into the stone with fine abrasives. Because the polish is not topically applied, it is not damaged by normal wear.
